Spartan and dpf delete?
Anyone done the spartan programer with the dpf delete pipe? If so, is this leagal? Will i have to put the dpf on later to smog? By the looks of things i really want to go with spartan and get rid of the dpf. I just want to make sure what i need to do. Like save all parts so i can put it back together in the future. How will you get caught without the dpf? If anyone has done this or knows anything about it i would love to learn more about it. Thanks

Got it on my truck! Legal, I guess for off road use only. I don't have smog inspections in Texas where I live. You would have to reinstall the DPF to pass your smog inspection. The hardest thing is removing the sensor from the DPF filter when you remove it. The delete pipe goes on pretty easy. I put never seize on my sensor and the end of the delete pipe, so I could get the off again, when needed to take it in for warranty work. Also you would have to make sure you reload the stock tune. The DASHDaq is awesome. Monitors almost anything on the truck. With the tunes, lots of power, better econemy, and no more regens. You would be amazed with the addational power. Matt and everyone at Spartan Diesel are great. You've already got the AFE on your truck, so with the Spartan tunes don't think you would need anything else!

Keep all the stock exhaust. The DPF is like 2200.00 the cat pipe is around 900.00 and the short pipe in the back is about 780.00. You never know when you'll need it again and If you need to take the truck to ford for work you will need to put the exhaust back to stock.
All the DPF delete stuff is offroad use only. Not sure how they will catch you yet. We dont have to smog anything over 10,000 GVW.
For the 210 tune and the 250 tune you need the aftermarket airbox which it looks like you have. Without it you will suck the filter minder down and get a cel light and possiable EGT issues. Also hang on to the Factory box, again this needs to be put back on for and warranty work.
The Dash Daq is plug and play, no drilling for sensors such as EGT or boost. The tunes are awesome, i have the 45HP 75HP 150HP 210HP street tunes and the 250HP race tune and they run great. I dont think you will be disappointed.

That Dash Daq looks wild. I saw it for $700 or so. Is it worth it?

My truck with the 210 tune smokes less than my 06 Dodge did. It does come with a mount, that connects to your windshield. Like SANDDEMON08 said, keep all your old stuff, DPF, and stock air box . You would need to reinstall them if you take your truck in for warranty work, or smog inspection...As far as being worth it, I would definitely say yes! Visit their site. It would be worth your time....

GM243 - Only other thing I have installed on the truck is the AFE. I did not purchase it when I got the tuner. Did learn real quick with the high tunes it would suck in the filter minder and give me a check engine light. Got tired of opening the hood and resetting it, so got the AFE. I too had to convince the wife that I really needed it! Was not too hard to do after picking up a load of hay and getting 5.2 mpg and a high of 7 while towing 350 miles. Same load with the DFP delete, and 75 hp tune 8.6 the whole way back. Next time I'll try the 210 tune and see how the EGT's are. If you want, send me an email to marynmickusaf@yahoo.com and I'll send you my phone number if you would like to talk more about it...

Some say it is not traceable, some say it is. You will need to talk to Matt @ Spartan to get the info your self. That way you can make up your own mind. Search some of the forums, some are saying that if you change your stock air box that some of the dealers are ok with it, others are not... I would not want my stock truck back. Runs too good the way it's tuned, better economy and the transmission shifts great. As far as the intercooler, lots of money. Truck runs just fine without it! I can say that if you tow at all with your truck, the additional power is wonderful to have.

I was not at home when I installed the delete pipe and the tune. Also the old firmware did not read pre turbo EGT"S. I was hauling 12-13000 lbs of hay, so I used the 75 hp tune. Now that we can monitor pre turbo EGT's I will try it on the 210 tune, and if the EGT's get too high I will load the 150 tune. There are some guys that have towed more than I hauled with no problems...I'll just take it easy and watch all the settings on the DashDaq...

You have to call him. The number is on his site. If you don't get through the first time, send him an email, or call again a little later. The wait will be worth it. As far as the hp gains without removing the DPF, I'm not sure. You really need to talk with Matt. I do know that without removing the DPF, I really don't think you would see much help with the mpg's... just give him a call, explain what you want out of your truck and if you plan on towing and he will make suggestions.. He's a great guy to talk with!
