First off, welcome to the group. Glad to have you hanging around.
Hopefully "the chassisman" will take a look at this and comment. He has a '55 MH Ranger panel truck and has been putting together a MH Registry. If he doesn't see this you might look at the recent threads entitled "Another silly idea" and "Marmon H(a)rrington 4x4 in 1952" and see if you can round him up there.
All MHs were rare when new, and are much rarer today. They cost a lot more to produce than a regular production truck. The real expert on the brand is Chuck Mantiglia of Chuck's Trucks. He's told me that about 200 half tons per year of the earlier 48s to 52s were produced. Whether that also applies to the later ones like yours I can't say. Value doesn't automatically connect to rarity. There are several for sale right now that have been for sale for quite a while. Obviously, a lot also depends on the condition of the truck, and whether all the MH components work.
thanks for the input truck dog. The truck is in really good shape and as far as I know all the 4-wheel drive works great. I just purchased the truck and i am still getting to know it. I will have some pictures on soon.
Welcome, I would like to have your truck info to put in the registry of M-H trucks, with help from truckdog and other members, I am putting together a registry of surviving M-H trucks in any condition, their owners, and serial numbers, along with a good picture or two, of each truck, and any history related to each. Any future restoration pictures, updates, or ownership changes can be submitted and added later on, with an ongoing former owners list included. Also trying to include transfer case numbers if any, and front axle production number, which is a number that some of them have stamped right on the front of the drivers side axle tube near the gear housing. this will add greatly to the authenticity and the value of any of the trucks included, and will also help owners with parts and maintenance issues. I can send you a copy of what I have when I get it together. Any owners info in this registry will not be given out unless OK by the owner. Keep your eye out for any other M-H trucks around you and pass this on if you can.
Thanks, Mark in Indiana thechassisman@comcast.net
