You're right, but it is virtually the same dash as a 68-72 pickup, only it has a different gauge cluster and no dashpad. That's why the the guys with those pickups were talking about the swap. They want the dash to be all metal with no dashpad and the gauge cluster is a lot more functional then theirs. Some of them have simply swapped the F600 gauge cluster right into their pickups.
Which is why I was saying it would probably be easier to just grab a bumpside dash and mess with putting it in the truck. Unless you really want/need the no dash pad style a bumpside dash would most likely be a LOT easier to find than one from an F600.
I'd probably grab a bumpside dash (I guess a 68-72 only after NumberDummy's post) and try fitment with that. The keep an eye out for a F600 dash and grab one as soon as you find one.

Good luck with that one. The new dashes are typically a LOT larger than the older dashes so tucking everything behind the old one will be tough. Aside from trying to make the thing even physically fit the truck.
