C4 Modulator Question
C4 Modulator Question
I have a C4 tranny on my 351W that I installed in my 1950 F-1. After four years I finally got it on the road and the tranny shifts fine but the shift points are way too high. I took in into a good tranny shop and the owner pointed out that I had a non-adjustable modulator (push-in) but it has a side entry port for the vacuum hose.
We want to change it to a adjustable modulator but the hose enters in the rear. Does anyone know where I could find the bracket that holds this type of modulator in place?

Did you buy the engine and trans as a unit?
Most 351W's did not use the C4.
What did use a 351W/C4 combo was 1973/76 Torino's, not something you may be able to find today in a junkyard.
I looked for a modulator valve bracket in the parts catalog for this application, there isn't one listed.
On the left side of the case, near the servo cover is a tag that has the FoMoCo trans code on it...is it still there?
If so, post the code. I can then tell you what the trans is from, what mod valve it uses, and etc.
btw: Inside the modulator valve is a replaceable rod. There is more than one length, which varies the shift points.
Did the trans shop point that out?
