Quick manifold/carb Question.

In the description, it says it would work for my 56's 223, but I would rather some experts like you all to confirm it. Is the carb the same as what came on the 56's originally? Would it at least work properly? I understand the manifold may not work since it ahs a crack. To be honest, I;m more after the carb, but if I can get both in one swoop, why not.

Thank you very much.

I'm not sure if you have a photo posted or something but I think only half of your question is being asked. The carb and manifold you are talking about using are not clear, however whatever it is, as long as it's somewhat the same size and will fit on your manifold or can be adapted to do so, it should run- as long as it's in good shape.

Yes that carb will work on your 223.......looks like a holley 1904. The busted manifold would make a good boat anchor.....and I wouldn't pay $189 just to get the carb. Who knows what kind of shape it's in? Do you not have any carb for your engine? They are pretty simple to rebuild.......T/M

Once again, I had a busy sched this weekend, thanks for the reply.

No, I do not have a carb. My dad seems to think it may have been stolen at one time, or he just misplaced it, but he's been looking everywhere for the last month, with no sign.

I just had my engine rebuilt, and am at 80% to getting this trcuk running, but I still don't have a carb for this truck!

You say it's a bad price, but these carbs are nowhere to be found. Hell, the yard out in the desert that is just for '56 fords want not only a core, but also $130 for a rebuilt one. Here it's not much better, but at least it comes with a repairable mani. And the add says it was on a running truck just a few months ago, I know I shouldn't believe that, but it's something....I guess.

Hey guys/gals, if this is a bad deal, then can you tell me where I can get a good deal on the correct carb I need(It doesn't ahve to be exact, it just needs to work correctly, that's all)? I'm almost dying here in frustration because I haven't been able to find a carb for this truck, and when I do find one, it's a terrible deal!

Where can I go?

Try this.......carburetorexchange.com lists a holley 1904 for $139. Not sure about core charge, you would have to call em and ask. Or google it, there may be more vendors out there. IMO you are better off finding a new or rebuilt carb to save some frustration.......old, worn out carbs can be a real PITA. T/M

Yeah see, in case of a core charge..................I don't have a core! Or else I'd just rebuid that. Man, for as supposedly comman as these things are, they are really expensive and hard to find!

Oh, and quick question...So the "1904" is the model I'm looking for? Is there any other model that would work properly that I can look for too, or is the 1904 the only one?

Yeah, everything is expensive for these old trucks.........but $139 for a rebuilt carb isnt bad if you can find a junker core. As far as I know, the holley 1904 is the only carb that will fit a 223, but they were used from 52 till 64 on cars AND trucks w/223s.......so keep looking. Sometimes junkyards and metal recyclers have big bins of carbs you can dig thru, I've found several parts carbs that way......T/M
