Trying to replace the front seal on an '86 f150 with a 5.0L engine. The parts person recomended putting in a new bushing
as the old one was scored. When I pulled off the torque converter, the bushing moved. The old bushing had "ears"
that I assume fit in the slots where the bushing sits.
The replacement does not have these "ears" Are they made after
installation by using a punch? Also there is a groove in the
bushing, that extends about 3/4 of the way accross the inside
of the bushing. What is its purpose and how is it oriented
when installed? I'm guessing that it goes on the bottom, but
I haven"t been able to find any reference to this in the tranny
manual I am using. Can anyone help?
