It's time for a newer truck. I was looking at a 2004 f-150 Lariat Ext. Cab 4wd. I had it looker over and all it needs is brakes and rotors. Buddy has all new brakes in the backseat. The truck has 70,000km's on it and the lowest I could get him was $17,000Can. I checked out the clean retail on the internet and it came up at 15,600 at the most. The truck has everything except the moon roof. What do you think?
Well just to add to the story I'm 18 years old and I would like to think I have a very reliable job for my age. The truck I drive now is a 1998 4.2L F-150xl 5 speed reg. cab with 275,000km's, it works and looks good but it's getting to that point where it's going to need some work that I feel wouldn't be worth it for me. And I guess it still goes back to how bad I want it vs. paying to much. I'm thinking I might be better off to wait it out.
Check around at car lots and dealers and see what the going price is for one that's close to this one. You should be able to get a lot of price comparisons on the internet.
Just for comparison, i bought a 04 STX crew cab 4x4 with 70000 miles last year from a dealer for $9995. My truck doesnt have all the frills that the Lariat has and you should be able to find a deal like i got on a 04+ F150. So you have to ask yourself is all the extras that the Lariat has worth and extra $7000? Just my thoughts.
I checked around. The Ford dealership wants $24,900 for a 2006 S-crew with no kind of warrenty and theres another dealer who wants $22,777 for a 06 S-crew with Lubrico warreny. I think I'm gonna wait this 04 Lariat out. I'm leaving for work for 2-3 weeks so I'll see what the deal is when I get back.

Unless you're in a hurry, just wait it out and something will come if you're patient. Just picked up a 07 SCab Heavy Half F150 4x2 last week. 20K mileage so it has a half year of bumper-to-bumper warranty and 30K of drivetrain warranty left. Plenty of toys in it. Because it wasn't the most popular one out there, got it for just over half what your dealers want for those. Only took 5-6 months to find but it was worth it to me.
