Question Torqshift issues

I have a 2003 6.0 td, the tow haul light flashes after only 30 sec of driving. I understand there are only 3 gears 1-3-5 and each gear has an overdrive to give you the 2-4-6. 4th is only used when in tow haul. My truck shifts 1-3-5 only these three engage, reverse works fine. im getting two codes p0730 and p2701, the place that rebuilt my tranny has pulled it apart to check in side and they have found nothing wrong, I was hoping there was a sensor or wiring harness i could check, and then im thinking solenoid replacement. Im not a mechanic, i need advice, thanks.

Instead of shotgunning random parts you probably would save a lot of money by paying someone who knows how to trouble shoot these transmissions to figure out exactly what's wrong.

sounds like you need a new coast clutch solinoid(p0730),and a new overdrive pressure solinoid(P2701).i also install new line pressure A solinoids when i build them because these transmissions develope a delayed reverse and forward engagment with high miles.just my 2 cents

Question ???

I appreciate the effort but i have no idea what any of that means, i noticed on the first section that 2-4-6 gears use the od but i dont know what the rest means.

Is it normal when I put my selector in 1-3 gear to feel different on takeoff than in drive it seems to hesatate till it boosts then sling shots, but in drive it is responsive to the touch of the pedal. Is it designed that way for pulling and spooling the turbo or do I have a problem?

It should be the same in drive as it is in 1. Both start in first gear. It is different in 2 and 3, with the lever in 2 the trans will be in second gear, not first. With the lever in 3 the trans will be in third gear, not first.

It allows better control of the transmission. If you want third gear, you get third gear, not first, second, and third gears. It is especially helpful in low traction situations.

Thanks Mark first torqueshift tranny i've had and hard to grab the 2 speed aspect with it, glad it's normal with the 1 2 3 facts of what gear it's taking off in. I always start out in drive but once in awhile I might shift to 3rd by accident and that's when I notice the difference in takoff

I wanna 'borrow' this thread for a moment by asking why my transmission is delayed in shifting then shifts firmly when the OAT is cold (45 deg and below). Once the ECT warms up perhaps driving 1/2 mile the transmission shifts nice and smooth. Is that normal?
