I used to scrimp for weeks to pay 10.00 rodeo entry fees back in high school. Now I have entry fees that are 200-500.00 and payback isnt much better than in the late 70's
In 2000 on april 14th when i brought the excursion to the gas station for first time I paid 40.00 for full tank. On april 14th of 2008 I paid 170.00
i know a trucker who would fill up his truck at 11:00pm and he had to stop the pump at $950 because his card limited him to 1000 every 24 hrs. the next night he would have to do it again because the truck would never be full.
In 1981, when I bought my Ford F150, the interest on the loan was 20.99%.
I paid off the 42 month loan in 15 months.
My '83 Alaska trip cost me roughly $700 in gas; that was a 10,000 mile road trip.
Hate to think what it would cost me now.
It's a wonder they sold cars then, at those rates you ended up buying them twice.
I know when my daughter was making $3.50 and hour in 87 (slightly more then minimum wage) gas was roughly .80 per gallon.
Now minimum wage wont buy you 4 gallons with an hours labor !
Not really inflation as much as just the high cost of living. Inflation is when the government prints too much money (or allows too much money into circulation)- think stimulus. We are due for a bout of hyperinflation very soon.

Yes we are, and it's going to be even worse with the current administration throwing additional taxes on us.
I'm just a backwoods guy from KY but even I see that throwing more taxes on the public when times are hard and unemployment is high is
not going to help us out of the situation we're in.
Stu I love your avatar and what it says next to it. I got smacked for having that song play while people were on hold. has to do with permission lol
In 96 when I got Brutus, my dually, i was only paying 75-80 cents for diesel.
I also remember in 96 i was paying 1.50 for a bale of coastal in the field and in NC I was having to pay 7.00 a bale in the store because those in NC do not know how to pick up their own hay. But in central Texas it had still gone to 4.00 a bale in the field.
Everything goes up. Sad thing is when wages go up the government just boosts everything else up as well. So you technically get nothing extra.
You guys remember when a GOOD used car cost $2500?...........I drove by a large dealers "budget" lot, there wasnt a car on the lot with less than 100,000 miles on it, or a price of less than $10,000 bucks!!!!!

My son works for American General Finance. They do a fair amount of loans for the repairs those $10,000 high mile used cars might need down the road. It's not unusual for someone to borrow $3,000 to have their transmission repaired. Just think, you have a car payment and a payment for repairs !
Lets not go there. I have had to take out two loans to cover transmission work. I was even pondering hanging around the shop after hours to trade for last tranny........I was going to trade my horse trailer...what were you guys thinking? For a transmission? Oh puhleeze. Now a jasper engine.......? I think I'll go check elsewhere around forums and see what is going on.
