Anyone out there run this chip? It's the 65 HP chip with 5 position switch, 1 is stock and it increases 20% per position. I have an 01 F250 no gauges except for the tranny temp gauge. The reason I'm asking is the price is cheap, I know, I know.., but started pulling double with the 5er. A Yamaha Rhino on a utility trailer maybe 2000 LBs extra. A little more umph on the hills is what I'm looking for......
I see you have it in your sig, are you asking about it or do you have it already??? Never heard of that chip but you can see what we all run around here, DP, TS, Tony Wildman, PHP(with tow tunes) and it prolly around the same price as that chip. Gauges would be a plus like Chris said before hand..
I just hit their website, and here's my $.02 based on what I saw biased with the fact I'm rebuilding my truck right now........
OH HELL NO.
Sorry to be blunt, and I don't mean to be offensive, just getting apoint across. That's not a "chip" that's a gimmick. All they are doing for the truck is manipulating the ICP signal to the PCM. There not modifying anything else. They are cheap, but that's because they aren't actually modifying the the program in the PCM, they are just tricking it. If you wanna play with it, more power to ya, but after spending $3500 for a long block (can't find that anymore) I wouldn't waste the $100. Seems to me a safe tune would modify all engine parameters in balance. Just my thoughts, your mileage may vary, void where prohibited.
This one has been brought up before. This thing is a "glorified" 10K mod. It is a variable resistor that goes through some kind of electronic circuitry. The potentionometer increases the resistance with each click of the ****.
Thanks for the quick replys. Haven't bought the chip , but put it in my sig. Been pulling double for a couple of years now and was wanting a little more kick, but can't justify the price for a reputable chip and gauges. You guys are right as cheap may cost a $5,000 engine.

Get yourself an EGT gauge, and then yes, you can justify it. It may be more than what you were wanting to spend, but if you're wanting the power, have someone custom burn one for you (the names mentioned previously). They just don't add fuel, they can adjust your shifting parameters as well, and that can make as much of a difference as anything else. Once you get one, you'll understand why everyone talks so highly of the guys that do the custom chips.
You don't need to get a 6 position chip either, most of them can burn you just a couple of tunes (stock, tow, performance) to save some cash. If you want it for some extra grunt when towing, look into just sending your PCM in to have it reburned, which can be done probably cheaper than the "chip" you are looking at.
Give the guys mentioned a call and visit with them, they'll tell you more than you need to know, and will support the products they sell.

The cost of a reputable chip and some gauges may not be as much as you would think. Drop me a line and we will get you fixed up.
When i did my gauges i think i paid 300 for a complete kit from DieselManor. However if cost is a concern Check out the diesel forums for sell adds i see gauges and pod clusters quite often. Heck i even see older style flip chips from time to time on there little bit of surfing and you could make some good deals. You might have to get the chip reburned though but you would still make out like a bandit.
Takes more than just dumping more fuel to make usable hp. You might make some nice hp for little bit at the expense of high EGTs that will toast your engine. You want some more hp that will keep EGTs in check and nice transmission shifts while doing it.
