Anyone have any reviews on the DP F8 Chip? I'm looking into that or the F5. I just don't think i will ever need all 16 positions the F5 offers and from what I can tell the F8 is cheaper. Thanks for the insight...
The reason I went with the f5 over the 8 is it was only a couple more dollars and you get the option of getting a digital display. The f8 only gives a routery **** option. The f5 has some nice switches! I went with the guage mount set up..hope this helps!
Great Thanks Bryan... Just spoke with Clay at Riffraff and he basically said the same thing. He mentioned the F8 is a good tuner if you want other peoples Mods as well as DP's on the same chip. I think I'm going with the F5.
Sidenote... Anyone running the ISSPRO EV2 Gauges? What are the required temp ranges needed for capturing the relevent data (Pyro, Trans & Boost)
i just never saw the need for more than 5 positions, you really going to use incrimental power at 20hp?? nah, your going to stay at stock, maybe 40tow which is next to nothing. 80e is a nice town booter. 120 is all youll see for a gain which isnt that much more than 80 with stock injectors. no start is stock on all chips and maybe a lope tune to show your buddies which i use maybe...1% of the time if that.i use 3 of my tunes. stock, 80 and my hot tune only because its more driveable. pretty peppy on the throttle which is what i like.
Yea, I mainly pull my Toy hauler with it, but wanted to get some of the other performance tunes (80Econo, 40 & 60 tow, high idle, decel). Has anyone had any experience with the Decel Tune? Should I just do the Exhaust Brake Mod instead?
I got this reply from DP's Techie James Breeden (contact info below)-
The Decel tune works like a exhaust brake but you have a 96 model and do not have a Exhuast Back Pressure Valve in your truck so this would not work for you....sorry.
From the website:
Decel tune- this is used instead of an expensive exhaust brake. It performs the same function by using the EBPV to slow the trucks down. Some transmission strategies are used for auto transmissions also.
Just switch to the Decel tune, let off throttle and it closes EBPV, locks tq converter and increases line pressures. When you get to the bottom of the hill switch back to the tow tune and away you go. Works pretty good for the money and alot of folks like it.

You're right, they do. Don't think that tech knows what he's talking about.
James is a great guy, just shoot him in email back letting him you know you do have an ebpv and I'm sure you'll get a response right back! You could try calling too.
