I have a 1996 F250 and today on my way to work I noticed my Over Drive light on the handle was flashing. Well this made me over sensitive on the way my truck was shifting so I am not sure if it is shifting different or if I am over sensitive. Does anybody know what the flashing OD light means?
I have a buddy who has a code reader and I will attack this tonight to find out what is wrong with the tranny. I did notice it is shifting hard out of first and second and the manual said it would do this when that is flashing. I just hope it is not a major issue, I will keep my fingers crossed and thanks for the help guys.
I think that is a fail safe mode. It shifts harder when the light flashes. Makes the clutches last longer because it shifts faster so they are not clutching as long. At least that is how I believe the e40d works.
I have noticed that when the OD light flashes, if you press the post to switch between odometer and trip meter, the OD light will stop flashing. Don't know if that's a good thing or not.
