I had a little trouble with my tranny last week. I got home from camping and went to unhook my fiver and put it into gear and truck wouldn't move just revved up. I put it into 1st gear and it moved right away. I then put it back into drive and wouldnt move till I revved it up and then it grabbed and has drove fine since. It does seem to be slow going into drive. Once truck is in gear it drives good and doesn't seem to slip. Fluid is ok and doesn't smell burnt. Even pulling the fiver I have never seen the tranny temp get above 180-190. The od light never flashed at me that I noticed. Any thoughts, am I looking at a new tranny? Thanks for any help!
First I would check all the electrical connections on the transmission.Next would be a scan for codes
Hopefully Mark K will drop by for some better info
Well I just had the codes checked and none were found. Looked over all connections and they were all good. Truck drives fine today. Only seems to act up after it has been worked for awhile. I am not sure what to do next. Maybe just drive it untill it acts up? Should I try changing the fluid? Thanks
It could be a seal in the forward clutch getting old. There's more pressure to apply the clutch with the shifter in 1. If that's it, the problem will continue to get worse.
I think I will just run it for now and see what happens. Sounds like I might need to make an appt with BTS in the future! Not what I had planned on but that's how it goes. Thanks for the help guys!
if youre thinking about making an appointment with BTS then do it a little early. i just made mine and the first day available was august 25th. thats 2 months out......
