Anyone out there running the Edge Evolution programmer. ???
Im getting the no response when trying to retrieve codes. I have checked all fuses in and out and all look good. Any other trouble shooting ideas.
Mine will cut off by itself like once every two or three months and I have to unplug it and plug it back up but I've never had just one option not too work on it.
Lee mine does the same thing! Just the other day my pyro quit reading! But i can always recieve codes though. The edge in my opinion is a P.O.S. and would never buy another edge product again. It comes with a one year warranty and when you need warranty work done you have to apy the shipping! Bull****! Thats what dealers are for. Good luck with the edge, as soon as the funds allow mines gone. Also from experience the edge is hard on tranny's as well
Yeah I will not buy another one either. The cutting off is the only problem I've had(knock on wood hard) I do know a feller that can could fix the problems. You can send it to him and have some custom tunes loaded on it. He takes the Edge label off an waalaa(?) its called a Gryphon. I still want to go with a custom programmed chip for the switch on the fly though. Which will be coming from the same guy, if my rich uncle ever gets out the poor house. Every time I get some play money something comes up and takes it. This has been an on going thing for a couple years now.......Back on topic!!
When I ran the Edge programmer w/ Juice Attitude quite a few years ago, it did exactly what you are describing. On long hauls it would hicup every 30 minutes or so. Sometimes it would take longer, but then agian at times it would hicup back to back. I have to tell yah that it is a piece of junk. I don't run a DP tuner myself, but the guys here will tell yah it's the best thing out there for the 7.3 powersrtoke. Jody has put a lot time into his product, and his customer sevice is second to none. Throw that thing in the trash. I've tried most of them of the generac programmers and they are garbage. Alot of guys here will tell yah similar stories. I run David lotts custom tunes for the mods on my truck, and he too is a stand up guy when it comes to his products.
Have you tried hooking it up to your computer to check for updates?
Nice idea. Didnt know you could do that. Anyway, I had the same problem when I first used it. (I have just got the truck and it came with it) I had to change #12 fuse which was blown, its the one that runs the cig lighter. After that all was good. Now Im at a loss cause as far as I can see all the fuses are OK. One thing the book mentions is to make sure both batteries are good. The truck starts fine. How weak do the batteries have to be to give a No Response.
I've had the same trouble CountryCar had with his Edge w/Attitude. Random hiccups, sometimes it won't "light up" and work, sometimes it "locked up". On occassion I've had to open the hood and thump the Edge box to get it to clear up and work. It'll go good for weeks then start the cycle again for a day or two.
I sent it back to Edge to have "the latest software" fixes and it did the same thing when I got it back. I like the idea of a dash mounted gauge set and that's all I use it for. I wouldn't dare set it on a high setting and run the truck hard. I just don't trust it with the tranny and high EGT's. I'm shopping around for a small gauge set that would work in a little dash mounted console like the Edge does. IMHO you would be better off to get rid of it, I plan to do just that !!!
oh that sucks. I would try pulling off the connections and spraying some eletra clean in there to get any dirt or grime out that might be making it loose conection. I would check the prongs on all the conections to see if any are loose.
