Turbo "Swoosh" noise vs. Drone noise

I recently did the 6637 mod and I have heard of the increase in the swoosh noise from the turbo.... I dont think I am hearing this noise. I do hear the drone from intake but that is all.

Can anyone explain to me what this swoosh noise is that I'm not hearing?

Get out and lean a little hard on the go pedal when accelerating. You can hear the sucking sound of the air going into the turbo. Kind of like a muted shop vac suction sound.

When you get on it, and it either shifts or you let off the pedal, you should hear it.

It's just Darth Vader talkin' to you.

Listen to him and he'll draw you to the Dark Side.

All of us with a 6637 hear him......

The noise appears to be credited to the open filter being less noise restrictive than the factory box. There is also a pressure differential aspect to this as the modified intake is less restrictive and when the exhaust pressure wheel abruptly changes speed (auto trans shifting under load) you can get some swooshing or stuttering. Sometimes called stall or surge (not interchangable), these conditions can be fatal or no problem depending on who you talk to and what exactly the sound is. More informed members have a better grasp than I do on this.
Doesn't sound like you are hearing either so.... no worries.

I'll check it out. I have "gotten on it" many times and dont recall hearing the swoosh sound, only the drone.

I'll kick it in the guts the next time I drive her and let you know.

With a stick it's about the same thing. I have a 6 spd and when I go to shift I get the sneeze effect
1st gear: some turbo, sometimes a sneeze if I'm really on it but I don't stay in first very long
2nd gear: turbo is on, shifting causes a cool sneeze
3rd gear: Turbo is singing like an angle, shifting makes me think that the clutch releases pepper into the intake (j/k)
4th gear: SCREAM TURBO SCREAM and upon shifting..... A-CHU!
5th? eh, it's all turbo baby, well except that stinking ticking noise I have not rid myself of because my passenger side up pipe is leaking a little bit.
