Glovebox Question

Alright, well in the next couple days I'm goin to attempt painting the interior of my truck. While I was lookin through it I decided I don't like the bezel around the glovebox. What attaches it to the dash, and is it a pain to take off? Also I plan on painting it, pepper gray metallic, like the eleanor mustang. Anyone know of a spray paint that is similair to this color that I could get right off the shelf?

Are you talking about the trim piece that surrounds the glovebox or the piece on the glove box door. The piece around the glove box is held on by small nuts on the backside. Here is a pic of where the holes are located. The trim plate that is on the door itself is stuck to it by double sided tape.

I'm refering to the trim piece. What all do you need to do to get to those small nuts?

I think they are like a 9 mm socket or something like that. It's been awhile since I've put mine on, but you should be able to get to them with a small socket or wrench. You need to take the glovebox liner out and also the the center A/C vent (if equiped) and the passenger side one too.

The nuts are bigger than a 5/16 and smaller than a 3/8. I think I used a 11/32. The 9mm should be about right also.

That sounds right. I couldn't remember exactly what I used.

What all is needed to remove the heat/AC vents? I have the "hose" on the middle one off, does it just pop out? What do you need to do to remove the passenger side vent?

Very carefully, with a small jewler's flat tip screwdriver, pry on either the top or bottom, sorry can't remember. You should be able to figure it out by looking, I would go look but I am in Afghanistan, and a LONG way from my truck.

You are looking for a little funny shaped tab that will push down towards the vent assembly, and unlock it out of the center pivit hole. Just to grab one of the horiziontal fins (carefully) and pull it towards you.

I learn alot in the u-pull it yard, after somone has already took what ever off, I look it over.
