Mobil One and XT-5-DM compatibility

Hey guys,
It's been awhile since I've dealt with the transmission fluid change. I am short on time as I'm leaving on vacation so took the Excursion into the dealer to have the coolant and trans flushed. I told the service manager that I had synthetic in there and was concerned that they flush it, he said they use synthetic. Well, I was just looking at my bill and it looks like they put 7 units (I assume that's 7 quarts) of "XT-5-DM" fluid in which means they probably just drained the pan, I know it holds about 18 quarts and need about 22 to do a good flush. The receipt also didn't indicate that they charged for a filter either. I did have them replace my external trans filter while they were at it so that's something. From what I understand the fluid they used is dino, not syn. Is that compatible with the Mobile One Dexron/ Mercon I had in there or will it cause damage. I would at least expect them to replace all of the fluid rather than the 7 quarts. I am headed through the mountains with a 9-10k lb. TT and want no problems.
Thanks,
Steve

I just did a little searching on XT-5-DM. It's Mercon V like our tanny's need and they buy it by the 55 gal drum by that product number. I couldn't find anything on whether it was syn or dino, sorry. I am wondering if the 7 means gallons not quarts, if that is the case then they used 28 quarts which is really high.

Sorry I couldn't help you, hopefully one of the guru's will be along shortly!

When are you heading to the moutains?

Well, they only charged $3.13 per unit for a total of 21.91 so I assume quarts. I am headed to The Crested Butte area in Colorado, specifically, Lake Irwin. It's a nice primitive campground at about 10,500 ft.

I seriously doubt they charged $3.13/quart for syn, and it definitely sounds like a just a pan fluid change. I used ~18 quarts to flush mine.

I would take it back to them and have a complete flush performed (on their dime!)

Yes, that's my plan, but in the meantime, are the fluids compatible? I need to do some driving before I take it back. He originally gave me a quote of $125 which sounds like about the right price for a complete flush. They only charged $70. I need to ask about the coolant flush also. The bill says they added 1 gallon of coolant, then the charge is for 3 gallons. Should be 4 gallons of concentrate. I've always believed that the only way to get it right is to do it yourself and I always have. Just out of time. Oh yeah, they charged me $200 to replace the t-stat and housing that I supplied. Since they were draining the coolant anyway, should be a few minute job to remove the 3 bolts and replace. Stealership for sure.

A phone call to them would be my first move. Then go from there, we're shooting assumptions all over the place with no real info other than what is on the invoice.
