I guess this thread is specificaly for boost and where it is lost, considering everythign else is working properly.
Something just doesnt seem right no my truck. I just put a boost gauge on my 95 with a 5 speed. The boost seems to climb really slow. There is only one gear I can get max boost. Here is how my truck buids boost in each gear, each reading is at 3k-3100 rpm.
First gear 6psi max, second gear 11psi max, 3rd gear 14 psi max, 4th gear 17psi max and 5h gear I can only get about 13. Does this sound right. Its like the rpm of the motor is faster than the boost spool up. It also throws a little black smoke each time till the bost hits about 2-3 lbs.
Where are all the places boost could be lost? I checked the end plate on my turbo and it seemd fine.
Anybody in Rogue River Or willing to let me drive their truck that you know is running properly. I have never driven another PSD other than a few I test drove.

Now that was a pretty pointed request seeing as I am the only member in Rogue River, I have an auto so I don't know if you will get the same feel as with your manual, but I will tell ya that they sure as hell are not that low.
PM me.

i fit is a stock 5 speed truck then those readings are perfect
That's what I was thinking too. With stock injectors and no chip you won't build much boost. and then with a manual you loose what you have every time you grab a gear.
Yea, I can barely keep any at shift points.
But when the turbo spools back up, its game time.
It feels like I get as much in 5th as I do in lower gears though.
No way to tell without gauges. And since I hate pillars, I have to come up with something more creative. Cause I don't care for gauges mounted on dashes either.

With a little work you can make a SouperDooty roof mount pod work in an OBS

Well then I am not goign to worry about trying to find any boost problems. The next step for me is a down pipe i think. I think i am going to start looking into the IDM mod too.
i have a stock 97 f-350 PSD 5 spd with 307k miles on it and i can hit 15-18 psi in every gear and if i pin it in 5th gear going up a grade at 90 ish it will hit a little over 20psi. i do have an intake and a 3" dp to 4" exhaust. y can i get more PSI?
