10 mpg
I guess anything is possible, depending on driving style, driving conditions, and vehicle maintenance. Perhaps a bit of exaggeration added to the mix as well. It certainly isn't representative of the average Escape.
Has to have rich codes--cherry red cat when driving--awful sulfur smell for miles behind it, OR one really screwed up speedo,BUT I am in Va. and I really don't know what mog means---MEAN ON GAS??? 6:10 gears with with 48 inch tires---10 is good,, Trade for a Hybrd and it may get better. LOL Blue
Thanks guys. I'm not that familiar w the escapes, but there is a Kid on the 80-86 F series forum page that says his parents escape get 10 MPG in town. And he swears by it. And he says it runs fine. I Just wanted to call his bluff but wanted a leg to stand on
yeah I mean if you race full throttle to every stoplight or stop sign, let it idle for long periods of time, run on nearly flat tires and don't do any maintenance on the vehicle you could get it to register 10 mpgs at any given time. Also have to question what he is using the calculate fuel economy. But this would have to be the worst fuel economy of any Escape known around here. It wouldn't be something that I would be proud of advertising if it was my vehicle, they obviously are doing something wrong if they are legitimate.
MAYBE he does not know how to figure gas mileage. You know you go 300 miles and you put 15 gallons of gas in it and they figure 10 mpg when actually you are getting 20 mpg.OR he is guessing by the movement of the fuel guage.Heard that MANY times while I worked in Ford service Dept for 32 years---Full to half way it gets great gas mileage BUT half to empty mpg sucks. LOL Blue wife gets around 15 in town and 24-25 0n highway--has gotten as high as 28--03 3.0 awd (auto and 4x4 switch on dash)

Did you read one thing that was posted in this post? It is impossible to get 10 mpg unless there is something drasticly wrong. But you say there is not. I say it is your math skills
