Do not call list = useless
The calls I still get are from companies performing so-called "polls". I normally ask the dope on the other end if they are getting paid to call and collect this information. Of course they are, so I ask them how much they are going to pay me. Of course, that is nothing. I then ask them if it doesn't seem rather stupid for their company, wanting MY information or opinion, for their profit, to NOT pay me for this valuable commodity. This stumps the vast majority of these callers.
There are other questions I will ask, but you get the point. All the time trying to remain polite and civil. Like all of us I sometimes lose it, and read them the riot act (no profanity) in loud tones.
When talking to a supervisor I have found that they can get your number removed from their list but it will take up to 30 days. Never does, calls from that company generally stop right away.
Have found that a lot of these calls come from logging onto various sites on the net. My other half, who has worked on computers since their inception, lets her fingers do the walking on line. When I ask the question "How d[d you get this number?", the answer is "Pat made a inquirey at our site". When I ask her about it, she had logged on but did not request anything. It is really all just a marketing ploy.
They are annoying though! ! ! ! !
