yesterday afternoon, the air bag light cane on in my 02. the truck has 154k miles on it, and alot of that was in town driving by a landscaper..
ya think the clockspring is the reason??
Check the code Tom. When you first turn on the key, the lamp will flash a code. Something linke 2 flashes pause 7 flashes before it stays on (code 27). That's your LFC (lamp fault code).
There is a wiring harness under the seat that gets kicked loose sometimes. IIRC its yellow. Check all the connections under the seat. Should set you right up.
nah. the only thing i can think of is that i had 3 people in the truck yesterday, and the light came on about 5 minutes into the ride. i think one of the guys might have messed up the plug, or the seatbelt.
Yeah the code is for high resistance in the electrical circuit. You may just need the light reset after checking the harness. Jim is the electrical guy. Maybe he can chime in on what to look for.
I thought the passenger airbag circuit was under the dash? I was thinking plugs under the passenger seat were power or heated seats. I don't believe I have a plug under my passenger seat.
You can try checking this plug Tom, but make sure you disconnect both batteries for 15 minutes and have the key out of the ignition before playing with any airbag stuff. Pinch the sides of the glove box in and let the door down all the way. Then see if you can find this plug.
well, the plug in plugged in, and i ran the seat belt in and out a few times, but the light is still on.
Disconnect the plug, check the wires and plug.
The TSB calls for wrapping the wires against the harness, and tapeing.
Take a good look at the wiring and the plug.
