I had this problem on my 96 as well. Some of the fine members here told me to count the flashes as it will indicate the error code. There will be two sets of flashes, the first indicating the first digit of the error code, and the second set for the second digit. Once the flashing has cycled, there will be about a 6 second pause until it will flash the code again. This will continue for a number of cycles until the warning light just stays on. If you then post the error code here, you will find that there are numerous people here, including CobraXP--the moderator, who can help you to decipher the information.
Good luck. Mine still flashes every time with a code 41 primarily because I'm too lazy to fix it.

Originally posted by WillieTD Mine is 3 sets of 2 short flashes, then it stays on as long as the X is on. How would I decipher that?
An LFC (Lamp Flash Code) of 32 means that the driver's side air-bag module circuit has high resistance or is open. If it were mine, I would check to be sure the driver's side air-bag is plugged in and that none of the fuses are blown in the in-car fuse box and in the under-hood fuse box.
Sorry, misread it, I thought you said your LFC was 32, when now that I looked at it again, I think you are saying it is 22. In this case, a 22 means that safing sensor output circuit shorted to battery voltage. Sorry, I don't really know where to go with this one since I'm not sure what the safing sensor is.
I knew these guys wouldn't let you down, RYVVY. Hey Reberhardt, while you're at it, could you tell me what the flashing 41 means. Someone deciphered for me before, but I've long since forgotten.
Anyone familure with 47 code? I've checked around, but all the code pages I could find only read 41 through 44. However, I did notice all of these have to do with crash sensors. Does anyone know if 47 is also a crash sensor code and, if so, the more exact meaning of it?
Thanks.

There's the problem....it's a van
The code 47 means Passenger Belt and Buckle Assembly Pretensioner Circuit Resistance Out of Range.
I would start by looking at the wiring to the passenger's seat belt buckle. You'll quite likely find it has been pulled apart by someone kicking under the seat or something like that.
