Not sure what the difference is between the drop beams and the Lightning components. I really like the look of the Lightning stance. For what I'm paying for the whole truck I don't think I could buy too many lowering items and come out ahead. Besides, I like keeping it all Ford.

. Now read this carefully. The coils, rear spings and swaybars are the only differnt pieces. The steering box, steering linkage,TTB are all the same. The rarius are are different but you can one one of each and it makes no difference(same height, Only minor casting difference)

Guys,

It sounds like this should be a fairly easy weekend project. Thanks for all of the input! I will post my results (with pics of course when it's all finished).

So the lightning has the same brakes as any other F-150? Seems like a weak link for a "sport truck" not to hi-jack the thread, more to compliment it i hope. Are there any big brake kits for these trucks? Are the springs just shorter? Sounds like an awsome project tho.

I suppose you're right, I have a reg cab 2wd with a 4.6L in it. So i drive it like a mustang and it stops alright. I'm just counting the hard stops until i get the pulsation back. Just an excuse for drilled and slotted i guess. (and I dont mean 4.9 either). I still think there would be a market for the big brakes. There would be a broad application for it, while theyre at it they (whover they is) could make drop spindles that would accommodate big brakes and maybe newer style 2 piston calipers? Just dreaming out loud i guess. Can we get some pics of the truck thats getting the lightning parts? I'm curious to see it. Do you have a time frame that you will begin?

TRK98,

I can take a pic but everyone will laugh (like they do in my neighborhood). It's a 95 XLT short bed with a teal colored regular cab and a maroon bed. The truck had 308,000 miles on it when I got it at an auction. The bed was beat beyond repair so I scrappped it and bought another bed from a donor truck.
I am supposed to pick the Lightning up next week after he pulls the motor and trans.

...Yeah if your having brake problems i would go with the slotted & drlled rotors & some good pads . I have a 95 reg cab short bed 2wd with a 302HO & just use the stock rotors & good pads with no problems , it stops twice as fast as my 04 5.4 . But the 95 is only about 3800 # , so theres a big weight difference .. Lew

Diesel Brad,

I learned last night that the donor truck is in fact a 93. You said the spindles are different, is this going to be a problem?

same here... i trust the good old brakes.. with new rotors and pads.. and i think its more than enough.. i have no idea how much my truck weighs its a 1989 F150 longbed with a 5.0Ho (in progress)

maybe 4000 #??

You will have to use the 93 brakes if you use the 93 spindles. The way the caliper mounts is different. Also. You Should have no 3rd seat, air bag or 3rd brake light
