Recirculate function on A/C fan

I presume when I put the A/C switch in the "Max A/C" position that is the equivalent of engaging the "recirculate" button on any other A/C control system and that the fan should suddenly be louder and blow harder.

True?

If so, has anyone had this function (but no others) stop working? If so, what was the fix?

Other than this, the A/C (and fan, heat, etc.) all work fine; but, with Vegas temps nearing 110* (and it's not even July yet!) during the day I sure would like to have that extra "bump" of cold air!

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks, Mike

recirculate door vacuum motor is located in engine comp on firewall on fan housing
gain access to recirc. door by removing blower motor/fan or thru top opening. old leaves/debris will block door open thus preventing recirculation

adding mylar/foam pad insulation to front floor boards and firewall helps much to keep down engine heat soak into cab in hot climates. i added 1/2" in mine, helps on long trips to keep feet from cooking and A/C now keeps up.
having rear air is a necessity in hot climates with Aero.
friend did the roof of his front to back with 1/2"
reflective window shade/sun blocks helps also on as many windows as possible.

Thanks....hopefully the motor is still good as this function stopped working a couple of years ago. It matters more to me this summer becasue the Aero is now my daily car again.

It's a '95 cargo version with the bulkhead immediately behind me (thankfully), so the A/C doesn't have to work too hard, but the extra fan action will certainly help. I am planning on insulating between the headliner and roof soon, also.

Any chance you can email me the first diagram you posted? It's a jpeg, so I can't blow it up without everything pixelating and not beaing able to rad the text...my email is mike@avlnevada.com . Thanks, M

Thanks 96. I just now (1:00 Am) fixed mine with your tech. drawing/advice. I was just beginning to think about taking the screws out of my squirrel cage assy. when I noticed the black vacuum hose coming out of the HVAC box (rubber boot size of half dollar) was broken off where it is supposed to connect to the vacuum switch just on the inboard side towards the motor. I thought that after I had it replaced I would get the "SUDDEN BOOST"/rush of air like mbrown spoke of-but-it just got bitter cold. I know alot of peeps think it is supposed to make a noise or like an extra speed on the blower switch, but mine just got colder REALLY COLDER BURrRrRr .
P.S. Something I did that was easier that taking the cage out of the box was to just pull the rubber boot out of the way I spoke of an you can "investigate" the whole internal housing first without removing it.--Thanks again Boz
