A/C Recirculation Mode

When I push the recirc. button I don't notice any change at all i.e. speed of fan, air being moved faster or any noise that would indicate that it was working. The light comes on but that's about it. Is it time to take it to the dealer?

mine has always behaved just like this as well. I though it was normal for this truck.

I didn't think anything of it until one day it just didn't make sense that I didn't hear the blower increase in speed. All my other trucks I would hear the blower increase and the amount of air coming out was almost double the volume. Senix, do any of your other vehicles give you some indication that the recirc has been activated? other than a light.

Yes, they increase the speed and force of the air on recirc mode.

This truck is the only one I have ever had that didn't increase.

Ok, I just talked to the Ford service department and he seems to think that's not normal. I scheduled an appointment for this Thursday. We keep you up to date.

Are you pushing the recirculation button with it on auto mode? Try this if you have DATC system. Take it off auto by pushing the front vent button, then engage the recirculation mode with the fan speed on high. You should hear it come on under the passenger side. On my truck, if it is on auto mode, the button doesn't do anything. If you set it to manual mode and push it, then it comes on.

I will have to try it that way. Maybe that is the issue with the auto climate.

Holy Cow Kane, I don't care what Senix says about you....your ok in my book. That worked, I guess I should have payed more attention when I was quickly fanning through the owners manual and when I say fanning I mean while I was using it to shew a fly out the window. All kidding aside, thank you very much I can now cancel my appointment tomorrow.

Not trying to take anything away from anyone but are you sure you got a "fix"? It seems to me if you push the vent button you would be getting exactly that, vented air and not a/c.

It has always been my experience with a/c that in normal mode you get fresh outside air run through the a/c system. When the a/c is on and you press the recirculation button the a/c uses the same cabin air run throught the system over and over again.

That's my story......

tgreening, It's not as much as a "fix" as it is just realizing how to operate the recirculation feature of the truck, in my case. Hopefully any whoa's that senix is having, which kind of sound similar to mine, this will be the answer he is looking for.

You are correct, if you push the vent button, the Auto Climate Control (ACC) turns off and you are now in "manual" control and you are getting air from outside straight to the cab. Having said that, if you push the A/C button you now have the incoming air being cooled by the conditioner and becasue the ACC is turned off you have the ability to use the recirculation feature which indeed shuts off the outside air and just used the cab air.

I always have a hard time with the DATC! Sometimes I have both the passenger and driver set at the same temp with AC on and one is blowing hot air the other is ice cold... then I notice the auto button is lit. I tend to just use manual and use the recirculate button when it is really hot out. If I don't use it, it doesn't get nearly as cold.

It does speed up and cool quicker when I turn it on. It just doesn't stay on all the time anymore like it used to. I saw in another post somewhere where Ford makes it turn off below 50 degree's but I'm not sure that is the case.

Yall have it good here near the end. It's just a bit of a bizarre way for the system to work. Essentially you have to manually disengage re-circulation mode as it is always on by default(Auto) until you hit the air direction button...if that made any sense....Happy New Year
