My A/C on my 92 F250 7.3, the air doesnt come out very hard. A mechanic told me he thought the evaporator core was dirty. He said he forced air threw it and stuff came out the vents but thought it was still a lot dirtier. I removed the blower and sprayed condenser and evaporator core cleaner on it. It helped a little but could only spray a small area of it.
What it the way to get access to the core, doenst look like i can from under the hood. Cause if I cant clean it a local shop wnats $600 to replace it and the part is only $80. Any help would be appreciated.. TY
You just split the case in 2 by removing the screws that hold it together and take the evap core out one side. The side closest to the engine is the one that comes off.
On my 94 halfton, there is 1 screw that you have to access from inside the cab...after which time I was able to take the motor-side cover off. Just FYI in case they are similar.
My evap was leaking so I had to change it, but if money is not an issue, I would just replace the damn thing...especially if it's original. Mine took a crap at 15yrs old. Otherwise, take it out and use your garden hose and a spray nozzle to clean it. City water pressure is 55psi at best so you don't have to worry about bending fins.
