this one has me scratching my head, last friday i pulled my car trailer and drag car to the strip with my 95 psd and e4od. ran great 20 miles to the track. that afternoon left to come home and got on the highway the converter would lock and unlock constantly just cruzing at 65 mph. put the car in the garage jumped in my taurus and meet my family up north. got back today to see whats wrong with the truck now my abs light comes on after going just 200 ft. shut the truck off and restart light goes out, move 200 comes on again. good fluid, good brakes. will call twilght zone tomorrow and see if the can scan the code. any ideas??????? thanks jackk
i posted this in the heavy duty forum but i think this will get faster results.
I had a weird problem in my '93 two years ago. I had a burned out left turn signal bulb, and when I used that signal, my TC would unlock and lock while I had the turn signal switch on. I replaced the bulb and the problem went away.
However, when I had this problem, I didn't have any problems with the ABS. I'm wondering if perhaps your trailer wiring had a problem or if there's a loose ground somewhere that's messing with your TC and ABS.
The only time I had an ABS problem was when I first got the truck in 2005. The ABS light would come on after 10 minutes of driving and the pedal would get harder. Found it was a corroded/seized ABS control valve. I took it apart and cleaned it out and never had another problem with it. This doesn't sound like what you described, though.
Remove the RABS sensor on the top of the rear differential. Clean off the debris and re-install. Check the pins in the electrical connector too. Needs to be clean and tight.
BTW: When the TC is jumping in and out you should turn off the OD. The trans will get very hot if allowed to do that.....not good.
as far as turning off the o/d. it was doing this in 3rd cause i had if off at different times doing 45 on a secondary road. it was also doing it in od.
What Jim said. Be very careful when removing the sensor though, cause if it's old and brittle, it can break off and then it's a bear to get out. What's your speedo doing when driving? Acting irratically? Mine was shifting very hard, going in and out of lockup, and the speedo was acting crazy when that sensor went bad.
