I went to NAPA and they gave me a teflon o-ring, but it clearly is not for the gear box end. It is similar to the one on the reservoir end, but it is still too small to fit where the the other one came off. Is the o-ring on the gear box end just rubber? I may just grab one that will fit for the gear box end.

The teflon ring has nothing to do with sealing the power steering. Its sole purpose is to keep crap off of the threads so it won't rust. I have left them off of thousands of vehicles over the years. Plus, there is a special tool that is used to size the ring for fitment.

You can install a new rubber O-ring on the hose, but if you don't have the old one, what size are you going to get?

A new hose from Ford would solve your problems & would probably cost less than the NAPA unit. Your original hose lasted 14 years & 160K.

I had a feeling the ring didn't do anything for the fluid. It didn't make sense the way it went together. Honestly, I don't see where the o-ring would go on the other end. It looks more like a compression fitting that would not need an o-ring.

Does the end of the new hose look like the end of the old hose?

Ford has two types of connections at the gearbox. One has a flair (much like an A/N fitting) & the other has a shoulder about 1/4 inch from the end that has a small O-ring around the gearbox-side of it.

The fitting at the gear box is a flared end. Just like the one that off.

Just make sure that everything is clean & tighten it up. This type of hose end should not pivot in the gearbox when fully tightened. Make sure you get it TIGHT. That flair is the only part that seals it.

That's what I did before. Yesterday I took it off and cleaned up the connection and tried to seat it really well while I tightened the nut. I am going to fill it up and give it a test run this afternoon.

Also noticed the teflon washer or ring and it was a little damaged, so I took it out and put there a viton o-ring, because I dont have a new one plastic (teflon) washer. Seems that the leak is not there anymore
I dont know if it is going to fix "temporary" the leak, or not, whats your opinion?. And where I cant buy that teflon washer? it only comes with the hose "kit" or it has a # part?.

Thanks.
update:
Well the leak continued, so I went to a pro with steering power and they sold me a 3 piece connector, I had to cut the steel tube of the hose in the upper part and adapt that new connector and no more leaks, The new connector came with a black o-ring but it was to small that couldnt stop leaks there, so I change for a bigger and green and thats it. Now the hose doesnt pivot at all, but the ruber part of the hose does the work against the movement of the engine vs. the frame and the pro, told me that is enough with that.
I cut the old connector and take pics and also of the new connector and the plastic or teflon ring, for the original hose (I didnt use now with the new set up) but I think its necessary to stop leaks there and that ring doesnt pivot anything, the pivot is taken for the nut and the steel tube and the o-ring thats its inside the full piece; and in one of the pics you can see the end or lower part of the hose (the tube wich goes to the gear box) and as someone said is flair, not has any o-ring there, at least in my case.
Here is the link of the pics.

That is a factory quick-connect for the pump. The fitting is screwed into the pump & the hose snaps into the fitting. Once installed, it cannot be removed from the hose. These are used to speed up assembly line production.
