I was wandering if there is anything I need to do to run bio in my truck. Chevron in my town is now selling bio 70 cents cheeper than dino and I thought about trying it. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
Carry some tools and a new fuel filter, Biodiesel is very good at cleaning out the lines. You don't want that to clog the filter then get into the injectors.
From what I hear there is similar milleage, I haven't ran any but I do run veg oil. There seems to be a slight drop in veg oil but it runs so much smoother and a lot quieter.
You certainly don't need lube -- it's WAAAAY more slippery than dry ULSD. I ran a few tanks through, and didn't have any issues with my filter, but I had been running DK for a while before that. There was a little crud in the filter when I first changed it (after running several tanks of fuel w/DK), but since then, it's been squeaky clean. But I also run a pre-pump filter now.
You lose a little power & mileage, depending on the blend. Is that 70c break on B100 or B20 or ??? For that, I'd run B20, but probably not B100. Lose too much power for my liking.
I heard of a Chevron in Davis selling Bio. Where is it, and is it B5? There's a station in Woodland that I usually buy mine from, they have B20 and B99.

I have not seen what the blend is yet. I only saw on the news that it was being sold here.
I run B-5 all the time and its great. Can't really comment on the mileage because I've been running it so long, very smooth running. B-5 and B-20 seem ok but the 100% bio would be like taking a laxative, have a fuel filter on hand like said above..

Chit... I'd run B5 every day of the week & twice on Sunday if it was 70c cheaper!!! You only need a 2% mix of Bio to make a huge difference in lubricity!
Nice, my first quote Joe, the place I get my bio is always about .30 cents cheaper, not because its bio but because I get the 5% bio blend from a truck stop, more volume so they can offer it less.
