Tranny Troubles

Tranny Troubles

Ok i was headed home from work the other day and a cummins passed me so i laided in the the deisel and truck downshifted to first then when i went to second it missed the gear and redlined out and i let of thenit hit second gear really hard.

now if i excelerate very slowly it will shift into second at a normal rpm but if i dont i have to take it to 3000 rpm and let off then it shifts to second or if i rod the hell out of it it will shift by its self into second at aobut 3600 rpm.

every other gear shifts fine and when its in second it hold the gear good when i roll into the deisel

So anyone have any idea did i toast my tranny agian or do i have a messed up shift solinoid

What year is the truck? I'm betting it's a 2001 and the mechanical diode is failing.

Uh-oh- being that I myself went thru 2 trannys (can't keep my foot out of it LOL) I had that same problem when my first tranny died. However, that wasn't until about 150k. You got any mods or a chip??

My 2000 Excursion did almost the exact same thing, and suffered from almost exactly the same symptoms.

I now have a John Wood tranny in her.

its a 99 i got ats triple clutch torque updated pump bts valve body with 85000 on it. been uses the foot feed all the time and have torque converter lock switch for blowen smoke that i use alot. the first time i put it out i took the clutches out of second and this time second still works. just no shift all the time.

That is exactly what mine has been doing lately! Could it be a shift solenoid? I am just hoping it isn't the tranny failing. BTW mine is an 02.
