Yes there are different length tranny - t-case adaptors, one is a little over 8" & the other is a little over 5" in length. You will need the appropriate output shaft for the different length of adaptor. Which one do you have?
If you have the 8" version and your output shaft on your tranny is too short, then you need the 5" version. These typically were found in 78-79 broncos and short box pickups. That is where I would start.

What are you putting this into? If you are swapping a 4spd for a C6 in a '78 or '79, then you might want to stick with the short adaptor & shaft setup. If you go to a long adaptor and shaft setup, then you will be required to short your rear driveline because the t-case will be moved back.
