Ford recently changed their Warranty Repair Policy.

Used to be they would just fix about anything and bill Ford.

Now, if the repair is over $100.00, they have to get prior authorization. I've run into that crap a few times in the past year. Sucks, but the Service Tech explained that alot of Dealerships were being overzealous with Warranty stuff. So Ford cracked down to cut some losses.

TY for that info guys. I was a tech long back, when like you mentioned Ty, the dealer could and often did warranty things that never should have been done. I guess it's good in a way as far as costs to the dealer, but makes things more difficult for people who actually need to get a repair done under warranty.

Hopefully, I won't have to deal with that anytime soon. <Knock on wood>...

Really amazing stuff------I have just got to make time to crawl around over and under my 07 to look at what style fan and tranny dipstick. For sure going to compare tranny dipstick locations and "S" tube up to engine compartment for dipstick on my 93 E4OD--. Yep M.K. they arent the same!! --but cant I look and scheme?

At least I finally got around to cleaning and "coating" the roof (Zanio "stuff", front 1/2 on EL). Still got 1/2 to go. BTW has anyone noticed that little metal "water catcher" that holds the outer rubber strip at the top of the door jam?

Yeah, I don't mind the policy. It should also cut back on customers coming back with the problem not fixed as many techs like to throw parts at what they 'think' is wrong. This is what got me where I am today. Had they left the original fan clutch alone I would be fine.

Update: Got a call from the dealer last week. They uploaded the information to Ford's engineers. Their response-fan noise normal. When my dealer told me this I flipped. I went on about how is it normal to have a fan clutch locked up 100% all the time, etc. I called Fords customer service line-they called back saying exactly what the dealer told me. I went off on them-made no difference-some kid reading a screen. I called the dealers manager who called me back and finally he understood. He said no, a fan clutch should not be locked up 100% of the time, but Ford said they won't replace the part. I told him my truck was fine until you replaced the fan clutch chasing a tranny chirp. He said what? No one told me that. That changes everything. I will order the part and if Ford doesn't buy it, I will.

Depending on how the call went with the manager, I was 100% done with that dealer. Now, I feel better. Such a freakin nightmare over a $200 part! Rant over.
