Cool fan clutch problems

i was riding back from work on sunday night and my fan clutch went out. i didnt know it at the time, but i heard this huge wind gust noise coming out of the engine compartment. after got home with the engine still running i opened the hood and wind blew off my hat i was wearing. after it was turned off, i tried to move the fan, and it didnt move. so it is now frozen solid. question is, hos do i get it off? i took off the fan shroud and released the 4 bolts holding the fan down to the clutch. but now what? it says to hold the pulley and turn the fan shaft and rotate the oppisite way would normally loosen cause its a 3.0L flexfuel. any suggestions? thanks !

Correct, the fan clutch is reverse thread, turn it to the right to loosen it. Unless you can make a special wrench like I did to hold it try using a pair of vise grips to hold a section of the pulley somewhere so when you turn the wrech the vise grips will catch on something holding the pulley in place. Place a wrench/large adjustable wrench on the fan clutch nut and give the handle a good wack with a hammer and it should spin right off. Replace the fan clutch and install in reverse order.

I use a rubber strap wrench to hold the pulley. A chain wrench would work, too.
