Need ABS help please

Just picked up a 03 Excursion Limited for my wife so I can have the truck all to myself. Of course, the batteries died in the first month, but the batteries were under warranty so I got them replaced for free.

After installing, I made sure the alternator was working, and it was. The problem is that I have an ABS light on and the code is: Battery Pack Voltage Insufficient. I dont remember ever seeing this when I worked for the dealer, probably because I worked on engines mostly. This makes it sound like there is a battery inside the ABS module.

I was wondering if anyone has ran into this before, and what the fix for this problem is. I dont remember the "B" code # I got with it, and I think the description is close ( have worked 60 hrs this week with one more day to go).

If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

Thank you

It was code B1676 Battery Voltage out of range

It seemd that it has sensed a under/over voltage in the system. It could be due to the fact that your alt and batteries went south.Have you cleared the code to see if it comes back? Also even though the batts and the alt are new double check the voltage at idle before and after the GP's have cycled.

Not sure if this is related to your problem or not...

I have a 2001 F350 that had the ABS light on... Took it to a local mechanic and was told not to worry about it that it was nothing serious... He would get a programmer from his buddy and turn the light off in a week or so...

About 250 miles later my wheel bearings started howling... Went to a CarQuest store to get new ones and was told by the parts man there that the ABS light will come on when the metal shavings from the wheel bearing gather on the magnetic ABS sensor and start causing false readings...

Just an expierence I had and like I said May not be related to your problem...

I had the exact same problem on our EX. Coming back from a trip the light came on but everything worked great. I said I will check it tomorrow when I get home from work, let's just get this thing home. I got home no problems whatsoever. The next day the wife took the kid to school and the grinding started. She parked it and cam and got it. The bearings were shot.
Bought a new hub assembly and all better. Even came with new ABS sensor.
