prelift questions

I have a 1977 f-250 with the stock lift and 35's. I was given a set of lift springs that would fit the front they are 8 inchs tall . my question is how much lift will this give me because i dont know how much lift are on the stock front springs ? Am i going to have to drop my steering and extend brake lines and everything like that?

8 inches is rather large, but you already have a small amount of lift there now. So figure that you will net approx 6 inches more than you have now.
That being said, you will have steering issues, the push pull system is not going to be adequate to work at these angles. Brake lines will be too short, and the front driveline is gonna be right on the edge of being too short.
Good start to a big truck. Have you any idea what kind of springs they are? Not many 8 inch kits out there.

i have no idea he's not around anymore they are just the 3 inch wide that i need for the front and the same length eyelet to eyelet. i figured 6 which personally think look best for the older fords i know the steering and brake lines wouldnt work . for the drive line I'll just buy and 80's style slip yoke rear drive line and cut it down thats what i have in it now

Thats probably gonna be 6 inches over what you already have. Its gonna be pretty big.
What are your plans for steering and for the rear?
What size tire do you hope to clear?

You have flipped the "housing"? Pics? what do you mean by this?
YOu have to be carefull how long you make shackles. Too long and the rear end wiill sway, and could fold the shackles.

Im not on the right computer for pics but i will send one later today . I flipped the little craddle the lift springs sat in on the rear end of the back springs, now im able to builds shackles before the eyelet was above the craddle and a small set of shackles actually dropped down from the shackle to the what i call housing. after flipping them the springs are below the housing enabling me to lift it thro shackles.

I understand what you are talking about.. You flipped the stock hanger for the shackle. This is a common flip, however, if more than 2 inches of lift is desired it does not stop here. Lifting just one end of the spring will only net half of the desired lift and it changes the pinion angle. The above sway problems can also present itself if you get too crazy with the shackle. The fix: lift the other end too. Lower both hangers. Many other trucks use a longer hanger. These can be removed and bolted to the frame. By doing this, you can achieve quite a bit more lift without the above sacrifices.
