Axle code confusion

4.10 or 3.73 that is the question
I’m looking to purchase an F-250 V10 4x4 extended cab with a door sticker displaying an axle code of 41. According to the axle code cart this is identified as 3.73 non-limited slip from an F-350 single rear wheel. However, this conflicts with the OASIS report and window sticker provided from FTE “thank you for the help”. The window sticker states optional equipment 4.10 ratio regular axle. What rear end does this vehicle have?

If you are not sure what you have, try jacking the rear up (both sides) and mark the drive shaft and the top of one tire. Make one complete rotation of the tire while counting the number of times the driveshaft turns. just over 4 rotations would be your 4.10 and just under 4 complete rotations would be the 3.73.

Just look at the axle code on the door sticker. I assume that is where you got the 41 from. Now, in the tech folder, don't stop at the first axle code list you see. Keep scrolling down until you get to post #9, Axle Codes. You'll see 41 = 4.10 open differential.
