Okay sounds weird Im sure but I am looking for a damaged ATS or similar ported shroud housing. What I am doing is machining it to try and make it take a 38r wheel.
Basically trying to jam the 88mm wheel into the 80 housing. I know I can fit it in a stock but it may surge like crazy
So anyone has anything please let me know. I was going to put this in the clasifieds but thought you guys are who would have the parts
Also if anyone has any insight into this or may have tried it let me know
The 38R wheel is like an oversized WW -- you might be surprised. I have a stock housing You could try first if you like. The catch is that I think the entire housing needs to support the geometry of the larger wheel, not just the hole. I'd be interested in your outcome though. Way to think outside the box!
I get what your saying my biggest concern is the porting inside the ATS housing and if I can machine it that far without hitting it and killing a housing
I was trying to also see if i could just get the backing plate compressor housing and wheel from the 38r and bolt it up but I dont know of anyone locally to me with one I can handle or better yet take apart
Well I will get the wheel ordered I guess and I will let you know what I find out

Reason: More info
I was wondering if there was enough material to clearance 4mm without hurting the integrity of the housing too. That's a lot of space.
I'm pretty sure the back plate is totally different. But if it's possible to open up the front of an ATS, you might be on to something. I would think that the entire front would have to opened because of the size of the wheel, but I don't know the geometry of the 38r wheel either. Might be something interesting to try out. If you want my stock housing to start with, let me know. PM me your address and I'll ship it off. Once you know the measurements of the changes that need to be made, it should be easy to compare that to the ATS to see if it's possible.
Oh well, yeah -- good point. The base of the stock wheel has to sit on the thrust bearing too. I'd bet that the shafts are different, if not in diameter, in length.
