transmission

I have a 97 f350 PS,manual trans with 143k.I can feel a viberation coming from trans.Was told it was input shaft bearing.Anybody had to replace one?Wondering how dificult it is to replace.Any input on the this would be great. thanks Darryl

Yes. I replaced one in a Mazda TOD in an '84 F150. It wasn't too bad. Hardest part was getting the trans out. I didn't need one, but some trans require the input bearing need a puller (to remove old) and a press to install the new one.

It may also be that your Dual Mass Flywheel is going bad. If it the Dual Mass Flywheel it will probably be pretty easy, but expensive (parts costs) to fix. If it is the input bearing I would think it might be quite a job as the ZF 5spd (the transmission you have) is quite an interesting animal with lots of special tools and procedures for repair.
