A/C Question

I know this is a topic that has been talked bout over and over again but here is my problem... I have a 2001 250 7.3 SC 4x4 no mods other than exhaust(yet). I checked the coolant yesterday and all was good. Outside ambient was 98 and I had 50 psi and today was the same. I got this from the gauge I bought last year. Well today we were on the way home from wally world and the a/c was cold but would go hot then back cold then do the same thing. It stayed hotter a little longer than usual today so this started to get me concerned. I had a mechanic buddy look at it with me yesterday just as another eye and the compressor does engage and was while we were looking at it but seems like today it just was not.We did a leak check and there are none. My problem is that the truck is the wifes go back and forth to work truck and she needs A/C so i need to get it fixed as soon as possible. I talked to the parts house a little while ago and can get everything to have it back up and running for about $225 . My question is do yall think this would be the best route. I just dont have alot of time to wait as I think I can get by 1 more day with it then she gonna be Hot if you know what I mean....... Thanks for the input guys.....

Glad to pass on the Link, but the rep should go to SpringerPop. Thanks for the thought. Post #5 in that link is a good test to see if it is the spacing.

A hot wife is a good thing to have but in this case it is the wrong kind of hot.

This really works well, and is very easy to do. Mine blows ice cubes now, well as soon as I get the vacuum pump fixed,it will again. Took about 20 minutes to do it.

Just remember to Loctite that bolt and tighten it up good when you put your clutch plate back on.

Don't ask me how I know...
