I am an owner of 2001-ford f250 7,3 v8 diesel and I've got a big problem.
While I was driving my truck around 40 mph I've changed four wheel drive into a two wheel drive (RWD) and from that moment I ve lost four wheel drive
what I did wrong?
how to repair this, what I need to change?
So, I' ve got ESOF. I took it OUT of 4x4 at 40MPH
Earlier I had some problems with it. Sometimes when I was trying to put into 4x4 It didnt want to work fine, I mean that, after third time It was putting into 4x4, like some kind of disconnection.
Now nothing - broke down.
I' ve chcecked the **** on the dash - works properly.
how did you determine the dash **** was working correctly? I had to replace mine if I wiggled it sometimes it would go into 4wd, sometimes I had to turn it way too far to get it to work. There are also some relays under the hood(at least on my 07) that can either stick, go bad or have bad connections
When you turn your a/c on does it come through the vents or the defroster?! If it goes through the defrost you have a vacuum problem. If thats the case, report back to us and we can help you diagnose further.
Doesnt make since that it would happen like that but we will start with the basics.
Turn your hubs manually into the LOCK position. Test 4x4. If it works, the hubs are not locking and we can diagnose that further. Obvious things causing the hubs not to work are broken vacuum lines going to the front knuckles.
If the 4x4 still doesn't work, and the light on the dash is not coming on that says "4x4", the shift motor is not doing it's job. That's a whole lot of reasons for that not to happen, but report back about manually locking the hubs and we'll work on it with you
thanks for all the advice.
I did what you told me - i turned the hubs manually and nothing worked...
I disconnected the switch responsible for shifting 2WD>4WD and connected the pins directly and it didn't work either.
When you turn the switch, did the light on the dash come on or not?
Manually crossing the pins on the switch is not going to help, the switch has resistors in it to signal the GEM/4x4 module what you want, 4x2, 4x4HI or 4x4LOW.
Get a test light. Hook it to the two pins on the connector that goes to the servo motor on the transfer case.
With a helper, and the engine RUNNING, have them turn the 4x4 **** from 4x2 to 4x4HI, wait 10 seconds, then go back to 4x2, wait 10 seconds, and back to 4x4HI again a few times. If the test light does not come on at all, check the fuses and the relays in that order.
