Hey guys! So today my truck didnt want to start, like 40-50 degrees last night. Seemed like the glow plugs werent working. I change the GPR a few months ago with a napa one. How exactly do I test this thing? Should both big terminals be hot when I turn the key on? I checked them with a test light and only one big terminal would get hot with the key on. both little ones would get hot.
Thanks for any help! about to head north campin and this happens! LOL.
When you turn the key on Adam both terminals shoud have voltage to them. Take a screwdriver and jump out the terminals. If she starts out ok then the GPR is bad.
As Jim said, jump the terminals to start if needed. I used an old screwdriver...
I put a new Napa GPR in my truck when I got it and the GPR failed me once. I jumped it and it has not given me any troubles for more than a year. I have the stancor GPR in my truck for a backup when I need to install it.
Thanks guy! That GPR must have failed, Napa has me a new one coming today, Im startin to wonder about some of these NAPA parts, Ive had there fuel pumps fail on me too.
Since it's not necessarily cold outside, unplug your EOT sensor and check for voltage at the 2 large posts with the key on. This will command the glow plugs on for the full 2 minutes. Make sure to plug it back in before you start the truck.
