from what Ive read on this site when you key on your truck (cold) and wait to start... one small terminal and both large terminals should become *hot*, while the other provides ground...Why are both of my small terminals *hot* and my gpr is not working....i ordered a new one but dont want to install it if there is something else wrong...
Screw the small terminals... to test it, take a volt meter (or test light) and put one electrode on the large terminal on the right (from the front of the truck as you're looking at the motor) and put the other electrode on some metal part on the truck. When you turn the key on (the truck HAS to be cold... if the PCM senses warm oil temperature, then it won't energize the glow plugs), you should be reading voltage. If you see no voltage when you turn the key on, then replace it.
i understand that... the large terminal on the right is to glow plugs... the one on letf constant 12v... other two one is supposed to be 12v and other ground... when i ground my test light to my battery i have power at both small terminals.... is this correct?

I don't know about the small terminals... all I know is the small terminals are for the control circuit. Either way, it don't matter. If the relay isn't transferring power from the hot side (left) to the glow plugs (right) when you turn the key on, then it's not functioning at all. I just replaced on on my dad's cousin's truck and it did the trick.
