doing brakes on 05 f-150 .rear rotors came off hard .tapprd on actuator lever for parking brake and got rotor off.need to find out if p. brake hanging is common and what the fix is.thanks for any replies in advance.
I'm also having issues with the parking brake dragging and would like to see the TSB - it is listed in the summary as Bulletin # 08-14-18 but is not shown in the "full text" section - the NHTSA # is 10024843 but they want $45 + for the info....
Well, I had the local tire store inspect and $100+ later the vibrations are pretty much gone but the rear brakes still squeal when backing out of the drive-way and still cold - there was wear on the parking brake drums even though replaced 15,000 miles ago and have not used the parking brake - any suggestion short of taking to the dealer?
I have a whole pain in the pants going on with my pass. rear park brake. Tommorow will be 3rd trip to dealer, it's under warranty and they told me there's a TSB. They already replaced the cables and lever so maybe you might want to check if it's under a safety warranty.
My 2005 F150 Supercrew (9500 km on the clock) started to shimmy yesterday so I checked all the tires, torqued all the lug nuts, and basically didn't see anything wrong.
Drove it around the block today, put the window down, and heard bad noises from the right rear wheel. The parking brake was released but the "drum" inside the rotor was hot to the touch and apparently dragging very badly. Guess I'll have to see if my outrageously priced extended warranty covers that one. It seem to be an issue with these trucks.
Oops, that shuld have been the left side brake that was stuck on.
I took the truck to the local Ford dealer and there is a tsb on the parking brake not going off problem.
TSB 08-11-1:
The fix: Replace both park brake levers and the L/H park brake table per the tsb.
Extended warranty covered it but $100.00 deductible had to be paid.
The dealer replaced the e-brake cable and actuators on my '04 - I still get a loud squeak in reverse when brakes are applied and still cold - then goes away. The dealer has no explanation or fix - I guess my neighbors will just have to put up with it every morning until it's time to trade....
parking brakes hanging up was an issue early on.....there i believe was a tsb on it....check the tsb link above
The 2008 I had did it, too. Cable released, but the mechanism stuck. Learned to jam the pedal as far as it would go, and then pop the handle to make it release.
