03 Mountaineer. With A/C on, dual on or off, with auto on also. Get A/C out of the passenger vents only. Heat out of the drivers side and rear vents. Need ideas where to look. Blend door actuator possibly? bad switch? Broken door? Any ideas appreciated.
Have you tried running the self diagnostics on the DATC? It may point to an issue. Or, it may do like the one in my wife's Lincoln LS and give no codes. However, with my scan tool connected, I was able to monitor the temp sensors and determined that driver's evaporator air discharge temp sensor was railed causing the system to continuously attempt to run hotter air out the driver's side. A $21 sensor later and everything was working correctly again.
I don't think the Mountaineer and Explorer use a Dual Coolant Control Valve (DCCV) like the LS. If it does, I'd start by pinching off the driver's side heater hose and see if that makes a difference.
AC blockage Ford Explorer 2003 equipped with DEATC & rear AC controls: I am having a similar problem, AC works fine for about one hour, then very little air is blown through the vents, even though the fan is fully engaged. After sitting for a while, the blockage is cleared (I am assuming that the evaporator is icing up) and the AC works fine. AC coolant pressure is within the acceptable limits. Any ideas?
05 aviator with the same problem!!! dual temp controls passenger side makes it to cool
driver's side gets hot. Will turn up hotter but won't cool, a/c system charged and working
but was un able to locate the actuator for the blend air door( all th posting I believe were
about single controller) help!!!
Hey Dave: I also have the dual controller and the lower vent air is much cooler on the passenger's side than the driver's side. Did you try the to read the codes from your controller (press off and lower vent buttons, followed by the auto button)?
