Good morning fellows, morning here anyway ; I am new to this part of FTE , most of the time I am at 48 up to 79 trucks . So this may not be new but it is to me. My fuel guage show the correct amount of fuel when ignition switch is on or off . Is that the way it works ? I never notice this when I used the truck in my construction buisiness because I had to fuel it up every few days . Now I'm retired and have more time to look at things , lol .the truck sits around weeks at a time, will that kill the battery? Truck is a 87 / F 350 dually, 460 , fuel injection . I need to keep the battery connected for the alarm system . .
Thanks for the response; Just now went out and started truck, volt meter up to normal about midway , oil presure normal about midway, temp o.k. ,fuel at 7/8 . key off ,oil presure at normal dropping very, very slow . Fuel drop to 3/4 then stopped . As I turn key to start engine, the oil droped to - O - until engine starts , then back to normal . Fuel goes up to 7/8 as before . It was a used truck , so I don't have any history on it ,any help is appreciated . THANKS JIM
ok this sounds very familar to my 96 when i swapped in the new cluster i used all the guts from the old one since they were newer aong with the odometer when i put it in the truck every thing read right until turning it off some of the guages stayed were they were i fixed it by pulling the needless off and reseting them to were they should be when the trucks off (every thing at owest point). turned truck back on then off every thing was fine
Thanks everybody ; I don't think I am going to worry about it, just never noticed it before, got to much time on my hands maybe to catch somthing like that.
