I was driving my 03 navigator i pressed on the gas to speed up pretty fast and the car just lost power and and turned off. I put it on park and turned the key and alls i got was a click. Every time i try to turn the key i get just one click. Got it towed home tried to start it again this time it started turning, a few more times and it started for a second and shut off. Then again i turned on the key and it turned on for a quick second and shut off and the few ppl outside of the car said it was making a rattling noise, someone said it sounded like it was low on oil. We checked the oil after awhile and it was pretty dry so we added about 5 quarts and waited awhile then tried to start it and now for a few times it would just turn and turn like it wanted to start but then b. attery died now we jumped the car with cables and it still would just turn but not start. So finally i turned the key and gave it alot of gas and it kinda started but then misfired and didnt start and it was done:? We were back to square one, when i turned the key it would just click once every time i turned the key ruined my whole christmas as i had to get a ride back home and now im carless if any of u great ppl that know about these cars could give me some advice or input id really appreciate it. Thank you.

Thank u for responding so quickly. I know adding 5 quarts isn't good j guess i was depending on dash board dials to tell me when the oil was low. One thing the dash board was telling me AFTER all this happened hen k pressed system check is " check oil pressure/ or "low oil pressure"one of those two. Also the check engine light bad been on prior to all this awhile back from the research i did i think the #8 COP HAD BROKE AND PROBABLY THE #8 spark plug was broke. They say that tbjs 5.4 L v-8 motor's from ford do this ALL the time. Also just got a brand new battery and a very good and specially made alternator put in 2 months ago. Havent had it serviced: in awhile. It was due for a tune up asap!!!!

Seriously?! There is a dipstick to tell you the oil level! Sorry but if you are driving a vehicle around 5 quarts low on oil....with a blown plug that you knew was blown....well you end up where you are now, which is with your thumb up bumming a ride.
Wasn't being a comedian was telling you where to check your oil and explaining to you in terms you could understand on how you ended up where you are....which is with an engine that is most likely blown.
Neither of those posts were disrespectful but were pointing out the obvious, now your post below is most certainly disrespectful and clearly a violation of the terms of use of this site. Good luck with your truck.

Spare parts car for suspension and body parts, be my guess. Doubt we will hear back from the OP after his mid day melt down. Looks like the mods cleaned up this thread moving his language and threats posts.
