I have found myself in the position of having to bleed my brakes after losing all the brake fluid and suffering complete brake failure. Evidently there was a previously unidentified leak in one of the front brake lines. I still have drum brakes on all four wheels.
Anyway, I found the port to bleed the rear brakes and did so without issue. However, when I attempted to do the front I was confronted with a slight problem. Neither port on the front wheels had a hex nut like the ones on the back that are used to open/close the drain.
Are there supposed to be hex nuts on the front bleed/drain ports (like those on the back)? Or is there a special tool or trick to bleeding the front drum brakes?
There should be on each wheel cylinder. I only had my truck for 2 weeks when the brakes failed and I went right through a 4 way stop sign. At that point I replaced everything so the new wheel cylinders in the front take a 7mm wrench if I am not mistaken with the rear slightly bigger.
