Check engine soon

Had the check engine light come on in my 02 XLT 4.0 4x4 today. Since I am on a fixed income and living in CALIF, and the fact that Auto Zone does no read codes for free here, is their a way that I can get the code, so that I might be able to fix my truck within my budget?

Yeah the autozones in calif. quit pulling codes & now they have also quit loaning the scanners.

Some sort of state law I think.

Looks like your only option is to buy a cheap scanner.

Question check engine light

Was able to get the code pulled by Pep Boys for free, only outfit in my area to do this for free. The code was a P0401, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve, insufficent flow detected, does this mean that I will need to replace the EGR valve? Any input will realy help, Thanks in advance

Good deal, glad you were able to get the code.

Looks like a bad DPFE sensor and an easy fix.
