As far as I know none of the diesel trucks came factory with a sliding rear window unless it was special ordered. Anybody else have a clue about this?
Neal-
My 97 has a slider but I am asecond owner and don't know what the PO did to it. As far as I know, it is factory. He did leave the sticker in the truck when I bought it, I should still have it. I'l look to see if it lists the sliding rear window as a requested option or standard equipment. But it is chilly and raining right now and I just got in the house. I'll look later tonightor tomorrow.
Thanks for the reps guys. I, like most, am extremely frustrated with some of the written instructions included for assembly of things ranging from a charcoal grill to home-szied nuclear reactors.
Have often thought that I might get work one day, after retiring from teaching, writing instruction/asembly manuals.
I did this by taking a long piece of clothesline (or a similarly slim and strong cord of some kind and laid it in the channel of the "U" around the entire perimeter of the window. Make sure you have a piece long enough to go around the entire window with at least a foot left over on each end. I suggest the the overlap of the rope occurs at the bottom of the window.
believe it or not but a good extension cord works well too, i have used this method for years!
my truck has a slider and i know it was not modified and i dont believe it was ordered seperately. the old man i bought it from bought it brand new to haul his boat around.
If you are going to replace your back window with a slider, consider the aftermarket electric controlled units. I replaced mine a couple of years ago with a unit from CR Laurence and I consider it one of the top 5 upgrades I've done to the truck.
I did dads truck and used that wiring pulling snot to ease the process....remooving all the extra trim in the 97 f150 took 4 times as long as changing the window.... but the cord is the best way to do it

Well, thats a very good option, but how expensive is it?, I went to the URL and I have to register to get the price and BTW when you click on 1973-1996, they send to the info about a 1997-1998
