I checked the fluid yesterday, it looks and smells fine but has a little grit to it. I am thinking it is a little normal but my husband is flipping out swearing we are going to need a new tranny soon.
The fluid is a little over a year old and has about 20K on it. It is shifting fine but did have a little stumble the other night when I tried to race my step son in his little girly car. I was doing about 25 waiting for him to catch up and then stomped on it, it did a little double shift but that's the only thing I have noticed in the past 2 years.
Should I just change the fluid or start pricing out new tranny's?
Mine didn't have debris after 30K when Brian changed it for me. IIRC, I asked Cale if he exepected crud in it since it was 30K and the trans was rebuilt. I was expecting some crud because it was new. He said "Bet you it comes out clean" and it did. Good thing I didn't bet.

Reading this, I am wondering if your hubby put the grit there so he could get a new trans.
BTW, a BTS will run you $4100 plus shipping. Last trans you will pay for they told me. I have been trying to beat on mine and break it but that hasn't worked yet.

It if was his truck I wouldn't put it past him
Looks like it's time to drop the pan and check things out......
And don't freak out when you see a bunch of fuzzy stuff around the magnet. That part's normal. I like Mike's method of draining the old fluid through a coffee filter to see what kind of crud is in there.
